After the huge success of 2019’s event, Diageo and Chorus once again invited Flux Broadcast to take on the bar-based behemoth that is World Class Bartender of the Year.
Moved from Australia and Madrid to the UK to help with social distancing, the 2021 event would see over 60 bartenders competing for the crown, all working remotely using a remote broadcast kit.
Flux would need to produce four days of non-stop action, bringing all the feeds together for review by a pair of live judges in the UK, before announcing the winner in a spectacular awards show.
For such a huge event we developed a two gallery MCR system. This allowed one team to focus on the remote feeds, whilst the other crafted a top quality live show.
We worked closely with the Chorus crew for over 6 months to develop a watertight run of show, curating all of the remote broadcasts and using a mixture of remote cameras, PTZs and operated broadcast cameras to ensure the bartenders and the challenges were shown in the best possible light.
Despite the travel restrictions and enforced remote broadcasts, viewing figures surpassed 2019’s event with over 15 million viewers and streams trending on multiple social pages.
