The Challenge
Brought in by Universal and Vans, Flux Broadcast packed its earplugs, polished its air guitar and teamed up with One Box Television and award winning director, Jim Parsons, to broadcast Metallica at the House of Vans.
To see rock behemoths Metallica at a small venue like HOV was a unique and unforgettable experience for the fans who were lucky enough to be there. Flux made sure to bring high quality streaming to the metalheads who couldn’t make it down.
The Approach
A huge event with such an electric atmosphere requires zero margin for error. Flux had to make sure there was no chance of the stream failing so used our primary and backup streaming systems. We ran the primary stream from the internal network at the HOV and brought a satellite truck to mix IP satellite and 4G for the backup. Camera operators in the crowd worked to transmit the band’s energy and intensity to the fans watching at home.
The Impact
Broadcast to the Metallica YouTube Page and the House of Vans website, the event was a massive success and was viewed by over 1 million people in the 24 hours it was live (3 hours live, 1 day on-demand). Positive comments flooded in from fans of the band, praising the quality and energy of the stream. Forget Master of Puppets – Flux is the Master of Broadcasts!
