Red Bull has teamed with Flux Broadcast as their complete production partner for their epic esports tournament, Home Ground.
November saw the second event on the roster, with 16 teams shooting it out head to head across four days in a bid to be crowned champions. Just like our groundbreaking coverage of event 1, we combined dynamic in-game footage with expert commentary and analysis.
Here’s how we brought it all together.
Coming live from the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London, we had 15 teams competing remotely and one team on site. To balance these requirements and capture the fast-paced nature of the event we built a unique remote camera system using Zoom and Issadora which changed the players’ cameras based on the observer feed – and we created it a day before going live in response to a last minute request!
We worked closely with Collider who constructed an incredible set for the live talent, including an LED wall display referencing elements from the game. Flux loves this kind of attention to detail!
In total, we had over 30 crew on location using a combination of remote and inhouse equipment to deliver the final show, including a Junior 5 remote track and dolly spanning the entire length of the set to allow us to transition between scenes.
Almost 30 hours of incredible content eventually saw Team Liquid crowned Home Ground champions. The tournament garnered over a million views in total and continued to push the boundaries of FPS esports competition!
