The Challenge
When Very.co.uk and Hogarth creative agency approached Flux Broadcast to film a TV advert featuring families and celebrities singing along to Our House by Madness, they must have known it would be ‘one step beyond’ other broadcasters.
The premise of the 90 second ad was simple – the talent would turn their home into a house of fun by busting out their best dance moves to the classic tune, whilst using Very.co.uk products and props in the most innovative ways possible.
The Approach
Our aim was to capture the lighthearted, energetic feel of people enjoying their home environment. This meant four days filming at 23 different locations across the UK – each one unique and requiring its own specialised set up.
We sent six teams out on the ground with a core team working entirely remotely from the multi-system operator (MSO) across all locations. In areas with poor internet connection we created bespoke 4/5G solutions to ensure that each shoot was fully connected.
Naturally, we took every precaution to ensure the project was fully Covid safe, with every crew member taking a test before commencement and PCR tests everyday for any member of the team entering anyone’s home. Full PPE was worn on location, although baggy trousers were optional.
The Impact
The upbeat, high impact advert was received enthusiastically upon airing on ITV and helped spark the hashtag #OurHouse2021 on TikTok as more and more people filmed their own versions.
The whole thing left Flux asking – what drives us to shoot almost 4000GB of raw footage across 23 locations in 4 days? We suppose it must be love.
