The Challenge
The Premier League is one of the highest-profile names in UK sport, so everything carries a certain pressure.
Whilst the events weren’t public broadcasts, they still had to reflect the organisation properly, ensure that meetings were productive and messages could be delivered, without technology becoming a distraction.
Across several years, we supported a range of Premier League communications, including AGMs, Senior Leadership Meetings, Internal Communications, Interactive Workshops and Shareholder meetings.
As with any high stakes organisation, internal systems and security requirements had to be considered, whilst making Microsoft Teams, remote attendees and production workflows work together in a way their team could trust.
The Approach
The job was to make them feel easier to run. That meant looking carefully at how people needed to present, interact, join remotely and follow the discussion. We worked with the Premier League team to understand where previous setups had fallen short and what the meeting actually needed.
A key part was improving the way communication worked. We proposed delegate conference systems so contributors could speak clearly, with better control over the sound in the room and online and clearer visibility about who was contributing. We designed the setup from the ground up, providing floor plans, renders, mockups and a full technical proposal so the Premier League team could understand how the event would work before stepping foot on location.
Once we had buy in on the approach, we worked closely with the Premier League’s IT team to build a Teams and content workflow that gave the production the tools we needed that would work within their internal systems and security requirements.
For shareholder meetings and senior leadership events, the technology is just one part. The crew also had to understand the room they were walking into. These were not casual internal updates, they involved C-suite executives and senior representatives from across the Premier League, so the team needed to be calm, prepared, appropriately presented and discreet.
This first event was a success, and with the technical setup proven, the Premier League team could re-focus on creating the best league in the world.
Before long, we were supporting a wide range of communications events. Many were hosted externally, while others took place within the Premier League’s new office. They had invested in a space designed to support meetings and communications, and part of our role was helping them make that investment work properly. We looked at what technology was already in place, what could be used, and where extra production control was needed.
Across all projects, we’ve provided everything from broadcast production, delegate conference and voting systems, audio, lighting, set, staging and LED walls.
Essentially everything needed to run high quality, productive and interactive hybrid events, while keeping the technology in the background where it belonged.
The Impact
We helped rebuild confidence in how the Premier League’s meetings could be delivered. But we didn’t make the productions bigger, we just made it better suited to the way they needed to work.
The Premier League is one of the most visible sporting organisations in the world, so the events had to feel high quality. But they also had to be secure, practical and reliable, whilst making sure the meetings served their purpose.
By working with the premier league, we helped them get more value from the technology they already had. We gave them confidence that important meetings could run as they needed to and that messages could be delivered clearly, so that teams from the most senior level down could focus on the discussions and decisions in front of them.
If we’re honest, the squad played a blinder. They took the job by the scruff of the neck, kept it tight at the other end and when all’s said and done, one team just wanted it more…
