The Challenge

Red Bull and D Double E teamed up and hit the road to deliver a series of pop up gigs at a variety of unique locations across the country, delivering an unexpected treat to the grime and garage fanbase.

Flux were brought on board to help capture these spontaneous shows and broadcast them live to the digital audience unable to make it there in person. Our brief was to be flexible and creative with the production as each event would be in a new location and pose an individual challenge with regards to power, network, and even camera placement.

The Approach

With a limited timeframe to get the cameras up and running, a dedicated site plan was needed before any crew arrived on site.

A combination of robotic minicams and operated broadcast cameras allowed us to capture the show from several positions, including behind the DJ or even within the crowd itself – our camera op had to learn a few dance moves along the way!

These feeds were then sent back to our OB truck via RF and mixed and transmitted via satellite to Red Bull’s MCR in Austria.

The Impact

Thanks to our dedicated pre-production time, the setup and testing phase during the live day was a complete success with the broadcast airing on time to huge numbers of grime fans.

In the words of D Double himself, ‘Bluku, Bluku’.

We delivered a range of services, including:

  • Remote Production
  • Live Streaming
  • Mobile Studio
  • Outside Broadcast Facilities
  • Robotic Mini Cams
