The Challenge
Sports brands Adidas and JD Sports asked Flux Broadcast to use all its production and live streaming expertise to capture their ‘Homegrown Spirit’ release, a narrative led collaboration between Adidas Originals and grime artist, Stormzy.
This exclusive event was a celebration of real London moments, showcasing the people, places and performances which make the city what it is, all hand picked by Stormzy himself.
Taking place in Seymour, Marylebone, the build up to the event was shrouded in secrecy. Stormzy would be calling in at four musical colleges across London to surprise students, pass on his experience, drop off exclusive collaboration t-shirts and invite the pupils to the evening’s special live event.
After being transported from their schools to the epic event space in Marylebone, the lucky students would be greeted with dancers, spoken word artists, dramatic performances, a choir and a welcome message from Stormzy.
The Approach
We had to create a live production that captured these incredible acts, as well as add presenter links by Crag Mitch. The Flux goal was to make sure that this event was as utterly inspiring for the live social media audience as it was for the students fortunate enough to attend. Using our OB PPU, 4X large sensor cameras, 4K broadcast cine lenses and roaming RF operators in the crowd, we could provide a dynamic, stylised output that was in keeping with Adidas’ high energy aesthetic.
The Impact
Tight time frames, total secrecy, and hundreds of partying school kids. These are the kind of challenges we love at Flux. Adidas and JD Sports agreed we presented an incredible show, streaming exclusive content to the 2.5 million followers on JD Sports official page, as well as distributing to the JD Sports Instagram page simultaneously.
